On the 29 June 2018 the Sunshine Coast Council approved the Yaroomba Beach development, which aligns with Council’s key strategic policies of investment in new tourism accommodation, creating local jobs, and achieving world class sustainable outcomes.
On the 2 November 2018 an appeal against the development approval was lodged by two activist groups. This was successfully defended, with the appeal dismissed on the 25 May 2020 by the Planning and Environment Court of Queensland.
On 24 July 2020 an appeal against the 15 June 2020 judgement of the Planning and Environment Court of Queensland was lodged by a local activist group Development Watch.
Whilst the appeal is being processed through the Supreme Court of Queensland, planning for the first stage of Yaroomba Beach will be delayed.
